board and staff exhibits underground railroad feature donation gallery

The Wakarusa River Valley Heritage Museum is located in Bloomington Park East at Clinton Lake just outside of Lawrence, Kansas.

We document the history of this region which has vital connections withLawrence, Kansas. The area was a key region for the Underground Railroad and a hotbed of abolitionism, and had strong community and family histories for Free State Kansas.

The Museum houses a variety of historical records and objects as well as genealogical records and welcomes research requests.

Be sure to come out for opening weekend from 1:00-5:00 pm on Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29. Don't forget to take a peek at our new Education Exhibit. There are some awesome stories and images of one room school houses of the Wakarusa River Valley.
We'll have refreshments and fun for everyone
